The Uchino towels are a double weave, consisting of a soft terry cloth on one side and a white plain weave on the other, printed with one of the traditional kimono patterns, the “Komon pattern”.

The story behind it:

The so-called “Komon patterns” are characterized by the fact that their pattern is very fine, sometimes so detailed that the pattern can no longer be recognized from a short distance and appears to be one color. It only becomes visible when you get closer and is a surprise.

Uchino has traditionally (since 1949) dedicated itself to the production of high-end swimwear textiles and here the Komon patterns play a central role, because it all originally started with the kimonos.
The use of natural materials is also a specialty of the manufacturer from the Imabari area.
In any case, his towels are always light, soft and ultra-absorbent. The secret lies in the lightly twisted yarns, which are almost reminiscent of raw cotton. A special experience!
