The story behind it:
In 2006, the Frenchwoman Laetitia Charachon founded in the historical “French Concession” of Shanghai the small but fine label " Platane ". The name comes from the many original French plane trees that were brought to Shanghai in the 19th century in their hundreds and still shade the small streets in the center of Shanghai today . While the plane trees were the inspiration for the name, the charming fusion spirit of the district is the inspiration for the homeware collection by Plane tree : traditional Chinese craftsmanship combined with international design. Platane has launched its own ceramic and porcelain series that is completely handmade and/or hand-painted. Included from the start is the “Flowery” tableware, which immortalizes Chinese/Japanese symbols on hot-fired ceramic in three colours (blue, red and green): the fish stand for wealth; the peony is considered an omen of happiness and a symbol of love; The plum blossom symbolizes bravery and steadfastness, as the plum and cherry blossoms are the first to defy the winter and bloom.
