The story behind it:
In 2006, Frenchwoman Laetitia Charachon founded the small but fine label " Platane " in the historic "French Consession" of Shanghai. The label was named after the many original French plane trees that were brought to Shanghai in the 19th century and still shade the small streets in the center of Shanghai today . If the plane trees were the inspiration for the name, the charming fusion spirit of the district is the inspiration for the Platane homeware collection: traditional Chinese craftsmanship combined with international design.
Platane has launched its own ceramic and porcelain series, which is completely handmade and/or hand-painted. The "Flowery" tableware has been there from the start, immortalizing Chinese/Japanese symbols on hot-fired ceramic in three colors (blue, red and green) : the fish stand for wealth; the peony is an omen of luck and a symbol of love; the plum blossom symbolizes bravery and steadfastness, as the plum and cherry blossoms are the first to defy the winter and bloom.
