The story behind it: The flat-woven Dhurrie rugs were used by commoners and kings alike, across social boundaries: in the simplest case, they were a multi-purpose textile used as floor covering, bedding or packaging, while in the most elaborate case, they were woven from the finest fibers reinforced with gold-wrapped yarns and thus adorned the palaces of the kings.
